Why Should I Send My Child To Camp Cedar Cliff?
Monday, December 14th, 2009
Camp is not just the sum of great outdoor activities and new friends kids will make. Those are awesome advantages. But, at Camp Cedar Cliff, we believe that camp is a unique opportunity for kids to see themselves, each other, and God in a new way. We consider every week of camp an opportunity for genuine life change for every camper. The outrageous fun, adventure, and friendships are all a means to grow spiritually as well as socially, emotionally, and physically.
Retreating from the normal flow of life and spending time in community with followers of Christ in the midst of God’s creation offers a natural learning environment. Kids learn to see spiritual lessons in everyday challenges, the mysteries of God, and His tangible, life-anchoring love and faithfulness. They learn how friendship and teamwork are integral parts of a healthy life, how physical challenge can be an object lesson for spiritual challenge, and they experience the satisfaction and reward of persevering through challenges.
Camp is a safe place for kids to live out their faith – or find it for the first time. It’s a place they can learn who they are in Christ, be themselves, and be accepted. Camp is a place to pursue God with abandon and develop healthy spiritual habits for a lifetime – habits like Bible reading, prayer, and worship. Those flow naturally out of a life of seeking God in every circumstance and learning to see Him in every facet of life.
Camp is an environment that helps kids develop the passion and acquire the skills to pursue God as a lifestyle. It is also a place they learn about healthy competition, the joy of victory, helping others succeed, the bonds of friendship, self-confidence, the importance of thankfulness, the traits of a leader, and so much more.
At Camp Cedar Cliff our passion is to help kids discover these things, connect with their Creator, connect with each other, and to have the most fun they’ve ever had. Our counselors and staff will love your kids, look out for them, serve as role models, and hopefully even be their heroes. We are all committed, passionate followers of Christ who want to spread that passion to kids who will grow up to be some of the leaders of future generations.
Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far has the LORD helped us.” 1 Samuel 7:12
Our desire is for Camp Cedar Cliff to be an “Ebenezer” in young people’s lives, a symbolic monument marking God’s faithfulness, presence, and favor in their lives.
